A most beautiful destination wedding on an Island in Ireland.
Sarah and Nick got married on Inish Mor, one of the Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way.
The ceremony,conducted by a celtic priest, took place in an old celtic ruin and was full of traditional Irish and greek symbols.
As a destination wedding photographer in Ireland I work mainly with couples who live in other countries and often book me through their wedding planner. So I was delighted when Sarah and Nick contacted me through the wonderful“Waterlily Weddings” to photograph their romantic and intimate wedding on the Aran Islands.

There is nothing more romantic and honest than a destination wedding on a tiny Island at the coast of Ireland. Intimate and authentic.

Sarah and Nick arrived the day before by ferry from Galway and stayed in a local bed and breakfast on the island. An authentic horse and trap brought them to the ancient monastic lands of St Ciarán’s Monastery where Dara Molloy a Celtic priest, who lives on the island,
performed a ceremony with old celtic and Greek traditions.
They partied with their family and friends at the local pub/restaurant that serves authentic local food.As it was mid Summers night we were able to shoot some wonderful photos with the couple later in the evening in the most beautiful light of the golden hour.

So how do a couple from the States end up in Ireland for their destination wedding?
This is what Sarah and Nick had to say about their wedding :

“Our Destination wedding in Ireland was perfect. It was exactly what we wanted, just a few close friends and family without all the fuss and craziness that usually goes on during a wedding. The ceremony itself was exactly what we wanted. We really love how Dara our celtic priest incorporated ancient traditions but also let us add our own elements like the Stefani crowns which are a Greek Orthodox tradition. Besides our vows, the reading my Maid of Honor Melanie read near the beginning of the ceremony was the most moving part. I may have been able to hold back the tears if not for that reading setting them off! The Celtic ceremony was as “us” as it could be and we couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect. And of course we had the most incredible destination wedding photographer from Ireland ever and that means we get to relive it all whenever we want!

After the wedding we spent about two weeks traveling around the UK and ending our Honeymoon in Paris. We had a wonderful trip and can’t wait to go back, especially to Ireland and Scotland.
